Braun, Blanche Lorraine (8 March 1887 - 21 October 1968)
Mrs. Blanche Lorraine Braun, 71, of Greenwood, died Monday at 12:20 p.m. in
Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, where she was admitted October 9. Funeral services
will be held at 2 o’clock p.m. today (Thursday) in Zion United Church of Christ
in Greenwood, with the Rev. David Logue officiating. Burial will be made in the
Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Braun was born March 8, 1887, in Greenwood. Her parents were Samuel and
Aminta (Moore) Smith. She was married October 2, 1922, in Greenwood to George
Braun. He died in May, 1961. They farmed in this area for a number of years, and
then operated a farm northeast of Greenwood from 1957 until they retired in the
fall of 1960. After the death of her husband she moved into the city of
Greenwood.
Mrs. Braun was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, and the Women’s Guild,
of which she was serving as treasurer at the time of her death, and of the
Neighborhood group.
Surviving are three daughters, Miss Catherine Braun of Eau Claire, Mrs. Harry
(Verna) Gabor and Mrs. Bernard (Jean) Bradley, both of Milwaukee. A son, Neal,
was killed in 1945 during World War II. Also surviving are four grandchildren
and a sister, Mrs. Catherine Henricks of Milwaukee.
