CHARLES ALEXANDER, physician and surgeon, Eau Claire, was born in the town of Pittston, Kennebec Co., Me., April 28, 1824. When he was four years old, he was removed to Farmington. Franklin Co., Me. He was educated at Yarmouth and Farmington academies, and graduated from the Medical Department of the University of the city of New York, March 8, 1850, having attended lectures at Harvard, and at the Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia. He came to Eau Claire in September, 1866, and engaged in practice here. He has been for several years President of the School Board. Has held various positions in the Baptist Church; was for four or five years superintendent of the Sabbath school. He was Surgeon-in-Chief in the 5th Army Corps. The doctor has one son, Joseph B. Alexander, who was born Nov. 21, 1870.
