L. L. WILLIAMS, merchant, was born in Kirtland, Lake Co., Ohio, March 14, 1843. That was his home until he came to Augusta, Wis., in May, 1869. He first engaged in book and stationery business here, in partnership with his brother, O. A. Williams, in the Spring of 1870. They added a jewelry stock to their business in the Spring of 1874. In 1875, they erected their brick store. In October, 1879, L. L. Williams purchased his brother's interest in the business, and early in 1881, he added a stock of dry goods and groceries to his former business. He has also been quite an extensive dealer in fruit. He has been agent of American Express Co. since Aug. 25, 1876. He has been a member of the County Board since 1877, and is now serving his fourth year as Town Treasurer. He was married in Chardon, Geauga Co., Ohio, Feb. 21, 1865, to Elvira A. Searl. She was born in LeRoy, Lake Co., Ohio. They have two children, Dorliska N. and Albert L. Lost one daughter, Sadie M., who died in August, 1877, aged three and one half years. Mr. Williams is a member of I. O. O. F., Temple of Honor and Good Templars societies.
