Roland B. Day: Born Oshkosh, June 11, 1919; married; one daughter. Graduated Eau Claire senior high school; B.A. UW-Madison 1942; J.D. 1947. Former practicing attorney. Veteran of World War II; served in army 1942-46. Member American, Wis. and Dane County Bar Associations; American Judicature Society; American Trial Lawyers Association; Ygdrasil Literary Society (past pres.); Madison Literary Club; Madison Club; former member, Madison housing authority 1960-64; first assistant Dane co. district attorney 1949-52; special counsel to governor in 1963 supreme court reapportionment case; UW system board of regents 1972-74.
Appointed to supreme court August 1974 to fill vacancy created by retirement of Chief Justice E. Harold Hallows.
