Gruber, Math (FEB 1874 - 10 OCT 1948)
Math Gruber, 74, of Stanley, brother of Mrs. John G. Bogumill of Thorp, passed away at the Stanley Hospital on Sunday, Oct. 10th, 1948.
Mr. Gruber, a pioneer resident of Stanley, was born in Austria, Feb. 1874. He came to the U.S. at the age of 11 years with his parents and has lived in Stanley since that time. In 1896 he was married to the former Grace Ramer, who preceded him in death in June 1945.
He was active as a businessman in Stanley for many years, but retired during the last few years.
He is survived by seven children: Mrs. Oscar (Ella) Frank of Fox Lake; Florence of Chicago; Mrs. Walter (Bernice) Rusch of Thorp; Mrs. Scott (Adeline) Henderson, Mrs. Bill (Elaine) Kuhn, of Stanley; Rhinehart of Nashville, Tenn.; and Alfred of Mexico City, Mexico; and 13 grandchildren, and four sisters: Mrs. Theo. Heiting, Mrs. Nick Jankoski of Stanley; Mrs. M. B. Medes, Cloquet, Minn., and Mrs. John G. Bogumill of Thorp, and two brothers, John and Anton of Stanley.
Funeral services were held at St. Ann’s Church at Stanley, Oct. 13th, Rev. Pitzenberger officiating, and interment taking place in St. Mary’s cemetery, with members of the Catholic Order of Foresters acting as pallbearers.
