Brown, Walter H. (23 JAN 1888 - 14 NOV 1953)
The next to the last of a pioneer Stanley County family, Walter Harrison Brown, passed away at Victory Memorial Hospital at eight o’clock Saturday evening, Nov. 14th, 1953, following a period of lingering illness, at the age of 65. He was a resident of the Town of Taft, Taylor county.
The deceased was born in the Town of Colburn, Chippewa Co., in what is known as the Brownville community, on Jan. 23, 1888, a son of Almond and Susannah (Romig) Brown. He has lived his entire life in the Stanley County, with the exception of one year spent at Superior. His parents and 12 brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
He was married to Eva Sharpe, who survives him, in 1909. Also left to mourn are three sons, Orville of Stanley Country; Burt of Hayward, and Ervin of Kelso, Wash.; two daughters, Della (Mrs. Clarence Berseth) of Stanley, and Miss Laverne Brown, at home; one sister, Mrs. Thomas Lee of Eau Claire; and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the Plombon Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock, Rev. James Abshire officiating. The body was laid to rest at Oakland Cemetery. Six nephews served as pallbearers.
