Roger A. Koplitz, Rt. 1, Withee, Wisconsin, was among the more than 225 senior
Future Farmers if America and their advisors who attended the sixth annual FFA
Farm Forum held February 18 and 19 at the Holiday Inn in Stevens Point. The
forum is sponsored by the Wisconsin Association of the FFA and the Wisconsin
Farm Bureau and its affiliate companies.
For the first time in the forum’s history, all six national FFA officers,
including National FFA President James Bode of Geary, Oklahoma, were present.
They brought greetings from the national organization during the Friday evening
banquet program.
Glenn S. Pound, Dean and Director of the College of Agricultural and Life
Sciences at the UW-Madison, set the tone for the forum in his speech at the
opening luncheon. Pound expressed the necessity of educating consumers to the
problems and needs of producers and challenged the future food producers to
accept the responsibility for improving the image of agriculture.
Other speakers included F.J. Doering, state supervisor of agriculture education;
Don Haldeman, Wisconsin Farm Bureau president; and William Kasakaitas, Wisconsin
Farm Bureau legislative counsel.
