Aspen, Ole S. (2 March 1898 – 14 March 1988)

Memorial Home resident Ole S. Aspen, 90, passed away Monday evening, March 14, 1988. Visitation will be Thursday evening, March 17, from 6-9 p.m. and Friday morning until 11 a.m. at Gesche Funeral Home, and at United Church of Christ one hour prior to 1:30 p.m. services on Friday, March 18. Rev. Loren W. Hickerson will officiate. Lori Anding and Deon Spangler will present musical selections. Interment will be in Neillsville City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Tesmer, Mark Moening, Fred Vornholt, Harold Milbreit, Kurt and Kris Aspen.

Mr. Aspen was born in Kristiansund, Norway, on March 2, 1898, to Kristian and Anna (Severtson) Aspen. When he was seven years old, his family moved to the United States and settled in Chicago. Following his education, he moved to Neillsville where he married Minna D. Schulz on July 16, 1921. As an employee of the U.S. Postal Service for 47 years he had a rural mail route in the Columbia area. After retirement he continued to reside in Neillsville. His wife predeceased him on October 15, 1987. He was a member of United Church of Christ and Rural Mail Carriers Association.

Surviving are two children, Herbert of Mt. Prospect, IL, and Mrs. Milford (Patricia) Tesmer of Phillips; two sisters, Mrs. William (Marian) Lindemann of Aiken, S.C., and Mrs. Karen Martin of Evanston, IL.; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded by his parents and a sister, Gunborg.
