Counsell, Marvin J. (8 February 1904 – 1 March 1988)

Visitation for Marvin J. Counsell, 84, will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening, March 4. Rev. Howard Ott will conduct the 8 p.m. rites that same evening at Gesche Funeral Home. Lori Anding and Iris Musil will provide music. Private family graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday morning and relatives will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Counsell, of Rt. 5 Neillsville, died early Tuesday, March 1, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. He had been ill for a brief time.

Born February 8, 1904, in Clark County, he was the son of Thomas and Mary Jane (Walker) Counsell and graduated from Marshfield Senior High School in 1923 and Lawrence University in 1927. On April 17, 1928, he married Helen Wilke and they moved to Milwaukee where he was employed for many years in the office of Babcock & Wilcox Steel, retiring as office manager in 1969. They returned to Neillsville where he remained the rest of his life.

His wife, Helen survives along with three children, Charles, of Withee, David of Greenfield and Mrs. Richard (Joan) Raebel of Neillsville; seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

He was predeceased by his parents; stepfather George Huckstead; three brothers, Elmer, Kenneth and John; and a sister, Eva.
