Gibbons, Jean E. (16 January 1923 - 7 April 1988)

Sixty-five-year-old Neillsville resident Jean E. Gibbons, 505 W. 6th Street, died suddenly at her home on Thursday, April 7. A memorial service was held Tuesday morning, April 12, at Gesche Funeral Home.

The daughter of Sidney N. and Helena (Berg) Lommen, she was born January 16, 1923, at Grand Forks, N.D. She was educated in Thompson, N.D., and later at Mayville State Teachers College, Mayville, N.D. On July 9, 1942, she married Robert J. Gibbons at Ft. Riley, KS. The couple lived in Bismarck, N.D. for many years and then moved to Janesville. In 1982, they came to Neillsville. Mr. Gibbons preceded her on March 17, 1987.

Survivors include four children, Mrs. Frederick (Judith) Lasher of Hatfield, Mrs. Bruce (Barbara) Evanson of Bismarck, N.D., Mrs. Lawrence (Susan) Watson, Stevens Point, and Mark J. Gibbons of Minneapolis, MN.; her mother, Mrs. Helena Lommen of Bismarck, N.D.; three brothers, Robert of Buxton, N.D., Richard of Bismarck, N.D. and Alan of Dickinson, N.D.; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded by her father.
