Hoffman, William F. (14 February 1904 – 5 April 1988)

Eighty-four-year-old William F. Hoffmann, of 514 W. 4th Street, Neillsville, passed away Thursday morning after a long illness from cancer. Rev. Richard F. Weber conducted services on Saturday, April 2, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mrs. Sharon Nemitz accompanied congregational singing. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Born in the Town of Weston on February 14, 1904, he was a son of the late Frank and Martha (Kalsow) Hoffmann. After his education at Globe School, he began farming with his parents. On June 12, 1935, he married Dora A. Scheel, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Globe. They continued to operate the home farm, in the Town of Weston, until retiring in 1962 and moving to the City of Neillsville. He then worked at B & F Machine Shop and various other jobs for several years.

Surviving are his wife, Dora; two children, Melvin Hoffmann and Mrs. Bob (Eileen) Bell, both of Neillsville; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Hemp, Neillsville, Mrs. Hildegarde Wiederholt of Lincoln Park, MI., and Mrs. Erna Fischer of Minneapolis, MN.; two brothers, Frank and Carl, both of Neillsville; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Herman Hagedorn, Louis Dux, Jerry Christie, George Koerner, Frederick Grap, Sr., and Frederick Grap, Jr. Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
