Bowie, William H. (1 SEP 1860 - MAY 1947)

Funeral services were held in Stanley at 2:00 Saturday afternoon for William H. Bowie, 86, who passed away of old age infirmities at the home of his niece and nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Verne Peet, in Stanley. Rev. N. A. Suko officiated.

William H. Bowie was born in Ontario, Canada on Sept. 1, 1860. When he first came to the United States he lived near Lodi, Wis., and on a farm south of Stanley until 1918, when he moved to Stanley. He came to live at the Peet’s home Dec. 25, 1943.

On Oct. 30, 1884, he was united in marriage to Edith Warner of the Town of Dekorra, who preceded him in death in 1943. Left to mourn is one sister, Mrs. Frank Montague and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Ethel Flora, and many nieces and nephews. One sister, Mrs. William Warner, died May 6, 1947 at Jump River.

Those who served as pallbearers at the burial which took place in Oakland Cemetery, Stanley, were Roy Forster, Axel Anderson, Wm. Jordan, Bob Rasmussen, Herman Anason and Frank Baker.
