Engel, Edna (Marriage - 8 June 1935)

A quiet wedding took place at 7:30 o’clock Saturday evening at the Zion Lutheran parsonage at Chippewa Falls, when Miss Edna Engel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Engel, of Abbotsford, became the bride of Mr. Ray Walthers, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Walthers of Chippewa Falls. Rev. B. H. Schrein officiated at the ceremony.

The bride was attired in a blue crepe ensemble with blue hat and slippers, and wore a shoulder bouquet of pink rose buds with clusters of white sweet peas. The bridesmaid, Miss Lorraine Raidel, of Eau Claire, wore a blue suit with white hat and slippers and a shoulder bouquet of sweet peas and gladioli. The groom was attended by Marvin Waller of Chippewa Falls.

A wedding reception was held at the Candle Glow café immediately after the ceremony for the bridal party. The table was decorated in white and pink with mixed sweet peas.

The couple left for a honeymoon trip to Superior and Duluth to remain for a few days. After June 15 they will be at home to their friends at the cottage of the bride’s parents on Lake Wissota for the summer months.
