Blunck, John F. (14 Jun 1889 – 16 Mar 1977)
John F. Blunck, 87, Withee, died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 1977 at the
Clark County Health Care Center in Owen.
Servcies were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Owen,
with the Rev. Lloyd Yaggie, pastor of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee,
officiating. Burial was made in Withee Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were six nephews, Leon Bruchert, Irving Timmler, Gay Christophersen,
Larry Blunck, Robert Blunck and William C. Blunck.
John Blunck was born June 14, 1889 in Thorp, and married the former Laura Miller
on May 10, 1921, at Owen. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in
1971.
He moved to the Town of Longwood in 1899 and had lived in the Withee area all
his married live. He operated a livery service in Withee until 1928, and later
operated a general store and restaurant until his retirement.
He also served on the Withee Village Board as a trustee for 14 years, and served
as village president for six years. He was on the Clark County Board of
Supervisors for four years.
Survivors include his wife, Laura; a son, John L. Blunck, Withee; a daughter
Mrs. John (Viola) Jalling, Withee; a brother, Walter, Withee; two grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.
Two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
Soloist for the funeral was Mrs. Louis Luedke, with Mrs. Dorothy Rabska playing
the organ.
