Martin, Maurice (8 Sep 1907 – 18 Mar 1977)
Rites for Maurice (Morris) Martin, 69, Withee, were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday,
March 21 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. Mr. Martin died of an apparent
heart attack at 9:15 a.m. Friday, March 18, 1977 while shoveling snow at his
home.
Officiating at Monday’s rites was the Rev. Richard L. Fliss, pastor. Burial was
made in Withee Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Martin was born September 8, 1907 at East Moline, Illinois. He attended
Withee Grade School and had farmed in the Town of Hixon from 1919 until 1972. He
then moved to Withee and had lived here for the past five years. He never
married.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Madelein Weyhe, Withee.
Serving as pallbearers were Ray Munson, Sam Munson, George Gelford, Paul Bladl,
Burt Eberts and Owen Melin.
