Flynn, Thomas A. (16 June 1921 – 25 January 1988) With Flag
Sixty-six-year-old Neillsville resident Thomas A. Flynn, passed away suddenly on
Monday, January 25, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Flynn was born in Sioux Falls, S.D., on June 16, 1921, the son of Arthur F.
and Alice M. (Neverman) Flynn. His family moved to Neillsville when Thomas was
two years old. After graduating from Neillsville High School in 1940, he entered
the U.S. Army on October 15 and served as a Master Sergeant in the
Asiatic/Pacific Theatre during WWII. Following his discharge on June 7, 1945, he
returned to Neillsville, remained in the Wisconsin National Guard and served as
administration assistant for 15 years. For many years, he worked for Lynn Mutual
Insurance Agency and was presently employed by Harland Cicero Mutual Insurance
Company of Seymour.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Neillsville Kiwanis Club, and
Wilson-Heintz VFW Post #2241. On August 26, 1945, he married Lorraine G.
Buchsteiner in Neillsville. She survives him.
Other survivors include three children, Tim Flynn of Anchorage, AK., Sue
Bergemann and Mrs. Richard (Linda) Urban, both of Neillsville; a brother John
Fynn of Maryborough, Queensland, Australia; and four grandchildren. He was
predeceased by his parents.
Visitation will be at Gesche Funeral Home Thursday evening, January 28, from 6-9
p.m. and Friday morning until 11 a.m.; then from 1-2 p.m. at St. John’s
Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville. Rev. Richard Weber will officiate
during 2 p.m. services on Friday, January 29. Marilynne Maciejczak and Sharon
Nemitz will provide music. Interment will be in Neillsville City Cemetery.
Wilson-Heintz VFW Post #2241 and Wisconsin National Guard will conduct graveside
military rites. Jimi and Teri Asti, Gary Schroeder, Doug Kloet, Mike Krultz, and
Orville Jake will serve as pallbearers.
