Harvey, John D. (2 August 1916 – 9 February 1988)

Memorial services were held, Friday, February 11, in Milwaukee for John D. Harvey, 71, formerly of Neillsville. He died there February 9 following a brief illness.

The son of Wells F. Harvey, former owner and publisher of The Clark County Press, Mr. Harvey worked as advertising manager of this newspaper for a few years before joining the staff of the Wisconsin Rapids Tribune. He later became connected with radio stations in Sheboygan, Madison and Rockford, IL.

He was born August 2, 1916, in Big Rapids, Michigan, and was graduated from high school in Harrison, N.Y. He attended Olivet (Mich.) College before joining his father and brother, Bob, at The Press. Mr. Harvey was married September 15, 1940, to the former Lois Druse, who then was a vocal music teacher in the Neillsville Public School System.

They are the parents of two children: David Harvey, a Doctor of Philosophy, who presently is on the faculty of Tulane University, at New Orleans, LA; and Pamela Spahr, who presently is assistant to the president of Rand Tron Systems, Inc. of Menlo Park, CA. in addition to the two children, he is survived by three grandchildren, Ann Elizabeth, Christopher Wells and Jennifer Ross; two brothers, Robert Harvey of Neillsville, and Dr. Wells F. Harvey, Jr. of Denver, CO.
