May, Alma F. (10 December 1904 – 10 January 1988)
Former Christie and Greenwood resident Alma F. May, 83, of Janesville, died
Sunday, January 10, at Caraville Nursing Home, Beloit.
Born December 10, 1904, in Pine River, she was the daughter of Fred and
Ernestina (Giese) Buchholz. During 1923 she married Fred May at Christie and
they operated the Christie Store from 1924 until his death in 1937. Mrs. May
moved to Greenwood where she owned and operated May’s Variety Store. After her
retirement, in 1963, she moved to Janesville where she lived until her death.
Survivors include three children, Bernard of Janesville, Shirley of Millston,
and Dorothy Maselli of Anaheim, CA; a sister, Martha Gutenberger of Neillsville;
four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded by her husband;
parents; a brother, Fred, and sister, Hattie.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 12 noon until 1 p.m. services at Gesche
Funeral Home, Neillsville. Rev. Paul Forde will conduct services and Iris Musil
will be organist. Friends and relatives will serve as pallbearers. Burial will
be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
