Mayer, Joseph F. (29 January 1906 – 7 Jan 1988)
Joseph F. Mayer, 81, Rt. 1 Humbird, died Thursday, January 7, at Fairchild
Nursing Home. Born in rural Humbird on January 29, 1906, he married Rosella
Brandsteder on September 8, 1931, at Fairview Catholic Church. Joe farmed all
his life until retiring in 1965, due to a farm injury. He has been a long-time
member of the Knights of Columbus, and a lifetime member of St. Joseph’s
Catholic Church, Fairview.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Elaine Kaiser of Hudson; three sons,
Paul of Lowell, Indiana, Vern of Neillsville and David of Fall Creek; a sister,
Tracy Bemis of Humbird; 13 grandchildren and five-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, January 11, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at
Fairview, with burial in the church cemetery. Anderson Funeral Home, Augusta,
was in charge of arrangements.
