Thompson, Forest M. (13 February 1906 – 4 February 1988)
Eighty-one-year-old Neillsville resident Forest M. Thompson, of 118 E. 9th St.,
Neillsville, passed away suddenly Thursday, February 4, in the Emergency room of
Memorial Hospital.
Rev. Howard Ott conducted rites on Saturday, February 6, at Gesche Funeral Home.
Grandchildren provided music and grandsons served as pallbearers. Interment was
in Neillsville City Cemetery.
Forest Thompson was born in Tenino, WA, on February 13, 1906, to Gilbert and
Bertha (Jacklin) Thompson. His education began in West Allis, where his family
moved while he was a young boy, and he graduated in 1923 from Neillsville High
School. For 45 years he worked for the Neillsville Bakery, retiring in 1968. On
January 20, 1930, he married Isabelle Skar in Waukegan, IL. She survives.
Survivors include, seven children, Mrs. David (Dorothy) Bertz, Carol (Thompson)
Ayers, Norman Thompson, Mrs. Ronald (Marie) Henning and Glenn Thompson, all of
Neillsville, Charles Thompson of Hixton, and Phillip Thompson of Rockford, IL; a
sister, Gerelda Larsen of Neillsville; 20 grandchildren and 21
great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Raymond; and
an infant son, Gordon.
