Chapman, Mabel (2 July 1890 – 9 September 1980)
A former Neillsville businesswoman, Mabel Chapman, passed away on September 9,
in an Edina, Minnesota, rest home. Mrs. Chapman was 90 at the time of her death.
Born on July 2, 1890, in Fort Atkinson to Herman and Paulina Holtz, she married
Doc (D.O.) Chapman on April 1, 1917. She was a businesswoman in Neillsville for
many years, working as a milliner and seamstress. She and her husband also ran a
restaurant and supper club (later known as Club 10 and the Bali Hai).
Surviving her is a daughter, Pearl Bradbury Ostlund; four grandchildren; ten
great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edith Carlson, Duluth, Mn.
Burial was made on Saturday, September 13, in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Graveside services were conducted by the Rev. Gary Clark of the Neillsville
United Church of Christ. A Eulogy was given by the deceased’s grandson, Warner
Bradbury.
