Hagen, Helen H. (17 December 1914 – 4 September 1980)

Funeral services were held Saturday early afternoon, September 6, for Mrs. Helen H. Hagen, 65, who passed away suddenly on September 4, in Neillsville Memorial Hospital.

The deceased was born on December 17, 1914, in Chicago to Jacob and Evelyn (Haight) Salomonsen. As a young girl, she moved with her parents to the Town of Weston, receiving her education in Globe and Neillsville Schools. She then worked on her parents farm until the May 25, 1936, Neillsville wedding of she and Herman A. Hagen. The couple then farmed in the Towns of Eaton and Weston for 34 years. They retired in 1970 and moved to Neillsville.

Surviving her besides her husband are three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Kathleen) Turner, Mrs. Henry (Louise) Kuester and Mrs. William (Karen) Selves, all of Neillsville, and five sons, Jesse, Richard, Quentin, Calvin and Mark Hagen, all of Neillsville. Also surviving her is one sister, Mrs. Alice Wells, Skokie, Ill.; and 16 grandchildren.

Jerome Berger of the Neillsville Jehovah’s Witnesses congregation officiated at the Gesche Funeral Home service. Burial was made in the City Cemetery. “The Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art” were the musical selections offered by Lori Anding and Deon Spangler. Serving as pallbearers were Leo Hemp, Walter Brown, George Thoma, Howard Schultz, John Ormond and Martin Kalsow.

Attending from out of town were Alice Wells, Skokie, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Lester May, Wis. Rapids; and Mary Thoma and Bonnie Resop, both of Berlin.
