The Rev. Paul E. Nelson of 113 N Thomas St., Loyal, came from Kewanee, Illinois,
to assume the pastorate of Loyal Free Methodist Church, 115 N. Thomas St.,
August 22, 1982. Nelson was born April 6, 1931 in Norfolk, Nebraska. He attended
Moody Bible Institute and Cleveland Bible College before being ordained in July
1967 in Mansfield, Ohio. He served pastorates in Burton, Ohio, five years; Lima,
Ohio, six years; was chaplain at Lima State Hospital, Lima, Ohio, two years; was
assistant administrator at Sunset Manor, a church-affiliated nursing home in
Woodstock, Illinois, 3 1/2 years; and then pastored in Kewaunee, Illinois, five
years. During this time he served as president of ministerial associations
several times. Nelson and his wife, Marian, who works part-time at Memorial
Home, Neillsville, have four children, Mrs. Don (Marge) Uhlar and Mrs. William
(Mary) Cassebaum, both of Tucson, Arizona, James Nelson, in the U.S. Army in
Germany; and Miss Marcia Nelson in Ames, Iowa.
