Dux, Ellen M. (27 June 1904 – 22 February 1988)
Services will be Thursday, February 25, 11 a.m., at Gesche Funeral Home for
Ellen M. Dux, 83, of Neillsville, who passed away suddenly Monday afternoon at
Memorial Hospital. Rev. Howard Ott will officiate; Iris Musil and Corrine
Armitage will provide music. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 24, 6-9
p.m., and Thursday morning until services. Interment will be in Neillsville City
Cemetery, and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Born in Greenwood on June 27, 1904, she was a daughter of Frederick and Nevada (Lauver)
Schwarze. After her education she worked at the Merchant’s Hotel, Neillsville,
until her marriage to Alfred H. Dux on April 29, 1923. The couple lived for a
time in Neillsville then moved to Owen and resided there for a few years before
returning to Neillsville. Later, they moved to Stoughton, living there until
1964 when they came back to Neillsville. Mr. Dux predeceased her on November 11,
1978.
Surviving are four children, Kenneth of Stoughton, Evelyn Dimeo, Neillsville,
Mrs. Duane (Patricia) Anding of Granton, and Jeffrey of Madison; four sisters,
Mrs. Cliff (Sue) Christoffersen of Ontario, CA, Mrs. Jennie Hendrickson,
Marshfield, Hilda Bjorkman, Tomah, and Lorraine Overstreet of Fairview, MT; 16
grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded
in death by her parents and four brothers.
