Hardy, Mary (17 February 1908 – 21 May 1988)
Rev. William Hickerson conducted rites Wednesday, May 25, at Gesche Funeral Home
for Mary Hardy, 80, of Chicago, Il, and formerly of the Town of Levis. She
passed away, following a lingering illness, on Saturday, May 21, at her Chicago
home. Mrs. Deon Spangler provided music. Relatives and friends served as
pallbearers. Burial was in Town of Levis Cemetery.
Born Feb. 17, 1908, in the Town of Levis, she was a daughter of James and Eva (Zaruba)
Matousek. After attending Meadowview School, she moved to Chicago where she was
employed for a few years. She was married to Charles Hardy, and he predeceased
her. After returning from Chicago, she resided in the Town of Levis for many
years. For the past 1 1/2 years, she has lived with her daughter in Chicago.
Mrs. Hardy was a member of the Bohemian Lodge.
Surviving is a daughter, Lucille Hardy of Chicago; one sister, Anne Karlovski of
Riverside, IL; and three brothers, all of Neillsville, James, Charles and Laddie
Matousek. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son,
Charles, Jr.; two sisters, Rose and Frances; and a brother.
