Rothenburger, Elfrieda H. (23 February 1903 – 28 May 1988)

Rev. Alice Hill conducted services at Zion American Lutheran Church, Granton, on Tuesday, May 31, for Elfrieda H. Rothenburger. Mrs. Margie Dahl was accompanist for congregational singing. Burial was in the church cemetery. Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers included Charles Neff, Craig Rothenburger, Kenneth and Chad Karnitz, Martin and David Hillert.

Mrs. Rothenburger, 85, of Neillsville, passed away following a brief illness early Saturday, May 28, at St. Joseph’s Hospice Care Unit, Marshfield.

Born in Plotzig, Germany, on February 23, 1903, she was the daughter of William and Pauline (Dreicifke) Pinke. In 1919, she came to the U.S. and lived in Milwaukee and Elkton, MN. On January 25, 1925, she married Carl G. Rothenburger in Elkton. They farmed there until 1937, when they moved to a farm near Granton. Later they moved to a farm in the Town of Grant, which they worked until retiring in 1961. After the death of her husband on February 24, 1975, she moved to Neillsville. She was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church Ladies Aid.

Surviving are two children, Robert of Madison and Mrs. Jon (June) Karnitz of Wis. Rapids; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was deceased by a son, Edward; three brothers and two sisters.
