Stein (Pape), Helen M. (12 Sep 1901 – 28 Mar 1977)
Word has been received of the death of Helen Pape Stein on March 28, 1977. A
former resident of Owen, she was born Helen Mae Dean, September 12, 1901 in
Milan, Illinois.
She was united in marriage to Henry Pape in 1916 at Owen, where they farmed in
the town of Hixon until 1937. Mr. Pape preceded her in death in 1936. In 1937
she was united in marriage to Fred Stein, then moving to Medford, Wisconsin,
where they made their home until 1971, then moving to The Dalles, Oregon.
Mrs. Stein passed away at the home of her daughter, 701 West 18th Street, The
Dalles, Oregon of a sudden heart attack.
Funeral services were held at Calvary Baptist Church at 2 p.m. March 31, where
she was a member.
Surviving are her husband, Fred Stein; three daughters, Mrs. Harry (Rachel)
Julson, Kennewick, Washington, Mrs. Karl (Dorothy) Blum, The Dalles, Oregon,
Mrs. Roland (Emily Stein) Nowak, Slinger, Wisconsin; two sons, William Pape,
West Bend, Wisconsin, and Glenn Pape, Dallesport, Washington; one brother,
Russel Dean, Artesian, South Dakota; thirteen grandchildren and eighteen
great-grandchildren.
Burial took place at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, The Dalles, Oregon.
