Celar, Marian (5 March 1891 – 28 May 1988)
Marian Celar, 97, formerly of Greenwood, died Sunday, May 28, at Neillsville
Memorial Home, where she had been a resident for the past five years. She was
born March 5, 1891, in Yugoslavia to Frank and Frances Zavrl and attended school
there. On May 10, 1911, she married Lawrence Celar in Chicago. He died in 1961.
She lived in Chicago for many years before moving to Willard to farm in the Town
of Hendren. She was a member of the SNPJ Slovenian Lodge.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Bernice) Barr of Greenwood; two sons,
William and Frank both of Neillsville; a sister, Mrs. Anna Kern of Chicago; four
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
parents, her husband, two sons and nine brothers.
Services were held Wednesday, June 1, at Rinka Funeral Home in Greenwood. The
Rev. Richard Sorenson of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Greenwood officiated.
Burial was made in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Larry, Tom, Todd, and
Jamie Barr and Jason and Steven Denk.
