Schneider, Gustav A. III (24 January 1941 – 25 June 1988) With Flag
Gustav A. Schneider III, 47, of Neillsville, died suddenly of an apparent heart
attack early Saturday, June 25, at his home in Christie. He was born in
Rockford, IL, on January 24, 1941, a son of Gustave A. and Marie (Fryer)
Schneider. After his education, in Neillsville and Marshfield schools, he joined
the Marine Corps in 1958, attained the rank of Lance Corporal and served for two
years aboard a ship in the Far East. He was discharged in 1962 and was then
employed as a truck driver for American Van Lines, Wisconsin Rapids. Later, he
moved to Rockford, IL, driving for Republic Van Lines.
On July 15, 1967, he married Betty Olmstead, in Rockford, and they moved to
Christie, where he worked for Hediger Dairy. For several years, he was employed
by Schneider Transport and Roehl Trucking of Marshfield. Since November of 1987
he worked for Hub City Foods, Marshfield.
Besides his wife, are three children, Melody of Chicago, Loraine and Gustav IV
both of Neillsville; his mother, Marie Sal of Neillsville; two sisters and a
brother, Patricia Irwin of Marshfield, Mrs. Burl (Jean) Galbreath and Carney
Ferguson both of Rockford, IL. He was predeceased by his father and brother,
Harry.
Rev. Loren W. Hickerson conducted rites on Tuesday, June 28, at United Church of
Christ, Neillsville. Vocalist Lori Anding and accompanist Deon Spangler provided
music. Relatives served as pallbearers. Interment was in Town of Weston Cemetery
(Weston East – Chapel Hill). Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
