There is a lot of activity on the streets of Withee these days, as the
merchandise and some of the cases and fixtures from the Withee Drug Store are
being moved to the new location, located in the store attached to the Lunch Box
Café.
The new building, which will house the Withee Drug Store, is an addition
recently completed by Withee Lunch Box Café, across the street from the State
Bank of Withee, and is constructed of cement blocks to the north side of the
café..
This past Monday, May 23, 1977, the new shelving had arrived and was being set
up. There is a new very attractive red carpet on the floor the whole length of
the building. If all goes to plan, the new facility will be open for business on
Wednesday, June 1, 1977.
The new building in Withee will be the center for prescription drugs for both
the Owen and Withee area. The Owen Pharmacy will have sundry’s and will handle
Health and Beauty aids and cards, candy, tobacco and magazines. However, for the
present, the Withee Drug Store will be the only place to get prescriptions
filled.
So watch for the “Grand Opening,” which will be coming soon. Meanwhile, visit
the new store and visit with owners and operators, Vern and Phyllis Gullickson.
The Gullickson’s living in Withee, moved to our fair area a year ago, July 1,
1976. They became the new owners of both Weddig’s Rexall Drugs and the Withee
Drug Store, having purchased the two stores from Mr. Harvey Weddig and Mr.
Harold Krom.
