The Revs. Wilger and Augustin officiated at the wedding of Jane Mery Baltus and
Timothy Allen Schmitz, held in St. John the Baptist Church in Marshfield on
Saturday afternoon, September 13.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Baltus, Marshfield, and Mr. and
Mrs. Jerry Schmitz, Rt. 1. Granton. After the parents of the bride presented her
to the altar, special music was provided by Cathy Hughes and Nancy Kipp.
Lisa Baltus of Marshfield was the maid of honor. She was joined by Kathy Machtan,
Elizabeth Larson and Judy Spencer, all of Eau Claire, and Candace Sternitzky of
Barron.
Terry Schmitz was the bestman. Serving as groomsmen were Dave Schmitz, Doug
Baltus, Ryan Hill and Steve Laver, all of Marshfield. Ushering were Dave
Schnitzler and Tom Tasse. Kevin Schmitz served as ring bearer.
The bride chose a gown of knit and Chantilly lace, which featured a cathedral
train, matching Juliet cap with mantilla veil. She carried a cascade of roses,
tiger lilies and baby’s breath. Her attendants wore knit gowns in a wine color,
wore Beller hats while carrying Spanish fans adorned with roses and baby’s
breath.
Following the ceremonies, an afternoon reception was held at the parish followed
by a dance that evening at the Marshfield Knights of Columbus Hall. The couple
then left on a Las Vegas wedding trip. They were to make their home in
Marshfield.
The bride is a 1976 graduate of Marshfield High School and in 1980(?) from
UW-Eau Claire with a major in social work. She is employed by the Clark County
Health Care Center in Owen by the county’s social services department. The
groom, a 1976 graduate of Marshfield High is employed by Land O’Lakes in
Spencer.
