Braatz, Janice Dawn (31 August 1980)

Janice Dawn Braatz and Gerald Lee Hayward were united in marriage during August 31 ceremonies at Frist Presbyterian Church in Goshen, Indiana. The Rev. Dr. Andrew Hardie officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Braatz of Granton and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hayward of Indianapolis, IN.

Serving as matron of honor was Joanne Schutt of Marinette. She was joined by Tere Morguson of South Bend, IN. Bestman was Curt Hayward of Indianapolis. He was joined by Ken Hayward, also of Indianapolis. Ushering were Bill Hayward of LaFayette, IN, and Neil Braatz of Anoka, MN.

Dawn Schutt, Marinette, was miniature bride and Eric Hayward, South Bend, was ring bearer.

“Sunrise, Sunset” and “The Wedding Song” were the musical offerings of Georgia Webster and Lanetia Stutsman.

The bride chose a soft chiffon gown with empire-waist, fitted bodice and a Schiffli collar embellished with lettuce-edged ruffles. The skirt featured a cathedral train with arches of matching lace and the headpiece was of Venician lace and featured a mantilla with flowing edge-laced veil. He carried a bouquet of orchids and mauve-tinted carnations. Her attendants wore mauve-colored floral floor-length gowns with matching mauve chiffon capelets and wore sprays of flowers in their hair.

The groom and best man were attired in white tuxedos in the Sherwood-style while the groomsman wore a Wellington-style white tuxedo.

Following the ceremonies, a reception was held at the Goshen Elks Club. Shelly Schultz, Spencer, was in charge of the guest book. The couple then left on a wedding trip to the east coast and were to make their home in Goshen.

Prenuptial event included a rehearsal dinner, hosted at the Goshen Holiday Inn by the groom’s parents.

The new Mrs. Hayward is a graduate of Gateway Technical Institute and is employed by an Elkhart, IN, circuit court as a court reporter. Her husband is employed as a foreman for Dye Plumbing and Heating of LaPorte, IN.
