It has been reported that Elmer Humke, who has been manager of the local feed
mill in Longwood and feed mill in Curtiss, is now the new owner of both mills,
as of Wednesday, June 1, 1977. Both mills will be known as Humke’s Deed and Farm
Supply.
Elmer Humke has worked as branch manager at the Longwood Feed Mill before he
became manager of the Curtiss Feed Mill, after the departure of George (Nick)
Will in February 1976.
The Humke’s home is in Greenwood, where they live with two of their children,
Mark, 18 and Marlyn, 15. Their oldest is Margaret, age 23.
Mr. Humke purchased the building and some of the equipment in both mills, but
not the business. A full line of Wayne Feeds and animal health products will be
available to area customers from this home town owned business.
Assisting Mr. Humke as manager of the Longwood mille is Sherman Gosse.
