Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Haas of Owen, who were married June 15, 1927 at Nazareth
Lutheran Church, Withee, noted the golden anniversary of that event at an Open
House, Saturday, June 18, 1977.
A family dinner was held at their home at noon on Saturday, June 18. The Open
House was held at the Unvited Church of Christ from two until five, where they
were joined by friends and relatives to honor the occasion.
Lyle Haas, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Haas, was born July 26, 1905 at Withee,
Wisconsin. He attended local schools and the University of Wisconsin, graduating
in 1931. His wife, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Hansen, was born
February 12, 1903 at Owen, and attended the Owen Public Schools. She is a
graduate of Medford Normal and the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire. Mrs.
Haas spent 38 years teaching in the vicinity of Owen.
Mr. Haas spent 18 years as a butter make and dairy plant operator in Illinois
and Wisconsin. They farmed for 12 years in the Township of Hoard, and then Mr.
Haas spent 15 years as utility and maintenance assistant at the Clark County
Health Care Center, retiring in 1969. He served as supervisor in the Township of
Hoard for six years, and as a member of the Owen City Council and Mayor for
seven years.
Their children include one son, Roger of Itasca, Illinois, and a daughter,
Barbara, a teacher at Green Bay. There are three grandchildren.
Lyle and Mathilda are affiliated with the United Church of Christ. They are
members of Easter Star. Mr. Haas is a 32nd degree Mason.
