Bucheger, Jan (13 September 1980)

Jan Bucheger and Kirk Garbisch were united in marriage on Saturday afternoon, September 13, in Zion Lutheran Church, Granton. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bucheger, rural Glidden, and the groom is the son of Marvin and Marjorie Garbisch, Granton.

The Rev. Horst Augustin officiated at the ceremonies with the father of the bride presenting her to the altar.

Patty O’Brien, a friend of the couple from Superior, served as maid of honor. She was joined by Judy Bucheger, the bride’s sister from Glidden, and Zoe Garbisch, the groom’s sister from Granton.

Theodore F. Krueger III, a friend of the couple from Chicago, was bestman. He was joined by Scott Garbisch, the groom’s brother from Granton, and Tom Misfeldt, a friend of the couple from Chicago. Victor Bucheger, the bride’s brother from Glidden, and Dave Krueger, a friend of the couple from Westfield were ushers.

The bride chose a Victorian-style gown of ivory gauze, trimmed with Ivory satin ribbon, Chantilly lace, ivory pearl buttons and flat lace insets in the bodice. Her veil was of train length and came off of a ring of flowers which were the same as the bouquet of apricot roses, banana azaleas and baby’s breath. The groom was attired in an ivory tuxedo; his attendants wore ivory tuxedo jackets an brown slacks and vests.

Following the ceremonies, a reception was held at the Chili Corners Club. The couple then left on a wedding trip through the upper Midwest. They will make their home on Rt. 1 Thorp.

The bride is current a student at UW-Eau Claire. Her husband holds a bachelor's degree from UW-Madison and operates a ceramic studio in Thorp as well as work as an art teacher in the Thorp school system.
