On Thursday, June 16, 1977, members of the Owen American Legion Auxiliary – Van Huizen-Fritz Post 123, held a formal banquet at the Holy Rosary Hall in honor of the 50th anniversary of the organization of the group. The charter of the Legion Auxiliary was drawn up on June 30, 1927.

There was a cocktail hour preceding the banquet held at the Legion Hall. After the banquet a brief history was given of the auxiliary unit, followed by a sing-a-long of old songs by all who attended. After the festivities some of the guests returned to the legion hall to reminisce. All the members wore Golden Corsages in honor of the occasion.
