Smelins, Erik A. (13 March 1914-23 June 1983)

NEILLSVILLE -- Erik A. Smelins, 69, Route 3, Neillsville, died Thursday at Memorial Hospital. The Gesche Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation. The body is to be cremated and the ashes interred in the Neillsville Cemetery at a later date.

He was born March 13, 1914 in Latvia and came to the United States in 1951, settling in Chicago where he was a machinist for the V.R. Machine and Tool Corp., Addison. When he retired in May 1981, he came to Neillsville area and resided in the Town of Weston. He had been a resident of Memorial Home since of this year.

He is survived by a sister in Latvia.

He was predeceased by two brothers.
