Geary, Clarence W. (9 May 1903-25 June 1983)
CURTISS -- Clarence W. Geary, 80, Curtiss, died Saturday at St. Joseph's
Hospital, Marshfield.
Services will be Tuesday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Curtiss. The Rev. Allan
Jenkins will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Curtiss.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Todd and Mike Geary, Ron Foster, Conrad Thorson,
Douglas Klipp and Eric Luther.
Visitation will be at the Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford.
He was born May 9, 1903 in Vernon County to Mr. and Mrs. John (Matilda Galstad)
Geary. He married Mildred Nicks October 6, 1924 in Curtiss. They farmed in the
Town of Hoard until moving to Curtiss in 1951, when they purchased the former
Schwandt Grocery Store. They operated it as the Geary Grocery Store until 1979.
He was a member of the Clark County Board of Supervisors the past 17 years;
served as treasurer for the village of Curtiss for many years; and was a member
of the Lions Club, the Community Club and St. Paul's Lutheran Church, all in
Curtiss.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Betty) Nenzel of Stanley
and Dorothy Geary of Curtiss; one son, William of Baraboo; seven grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren; one brother, Willard of Curtiss; and one sister, Mrs.
Bell Veglahn of La Crosse.
He was predeceased by a son, Thomas, in infancy.
