Fischer, Carl & Martha (50th Anniversary-25 May 1983)
Mr. and Mrs. Carl (Martha "Tudie") Fischer of Colby celebrated their 50th
wedding anniversary June 25 at the VFW Hall, Colby,
Prayers were said at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, the speaker being their
daughter, Mrs. Norman (Patsy) Lang. Dinner, dance and open house followed.
Fischer was born to Mr. and Mrs. Adolph (Elizabeth) Fischer January 24, 1904 in
Germany. He was 4 when he came to America with his parents. His wife, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. George (Emma) Schultz, was born December 25, 1914 in the Town of
Holton. Her 91-year-old mother resides in Fairview Apartments, Colby.
The Fischers were married May 25, 1933 at Christ Lutheran Church, Abbotsford,
the Rev. John Brandt officiating.
Fischer hauled milk for White House Milk Co., Abbotsford, and did other trucking
for more than 50 years. In 1976 the trucking business was sold. Mrs. Fischer
worked at Colby Cheese Box Factory and did babysitting.
They lived all their married life in Colby; from 1936 at their present address,
501 N. Third St. Mrs. Fischer retired in 1977 and her husband the previous year.
He enjoys fishing and hunting; she sewing, reading and traveling. They are
members of Zion Lutheran Church, Colby.
