Pachal, Janet E. (22 Sep 1935 – 26 Jan 2022)

Janet E. Pachal, 86, Marshfield, formerly of Loyal, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, at Wells Nature View Assisted Living in Marshfield. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Feb. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal, with Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, rural Loyal. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

Janet Eva Ehlert was born on Sept. 22, 1935, in the township of Loyal, the daughter of Julius A. and Anna A. (nee Kurz) Ehlert. She was raised on her family’s farm until she was 11 years old when her family moved into Loyal. Janet received her education in the Loyal area where she excelled, graduating with honors in the Loyal High School class of 1953. After graduating, she worked for some time at the McLellen Store in Marshfield. On Oct. 2, 1954, Janet was united in marriage to Duane O. Pachal at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. Their marriage was blessed with seven children. Together they lovingly raised their children on their family dairy farm. While helping with the farm and managing a busy household, Janet also worked seasonally as a data entry clerk at Figi’s in Marshfield. In 1988, Janet earned her CNA certificate from Midstate Technical College. Pursuing her passion to help others, she worked at Colonial Center in Colby and provided in-home care in the Loyal area. In 1995, Duane and Janet sold their family farm and moved into Loyal. Janet had many interests, but especially loved traveling with her husband throughout the U.S., including Alaska, as well as to England, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. Janet also enjoyed dancing to the Howie Sturtz Orchestra, spending time with her family, reading, and tending her outdoor flowers. She had a special affinity for her favorite indoor plants -- Christmas cactuses. As a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Janet was active in Adult Fellowship, Trinity Lutheran Church Women, and the prayer chain. She was also a hospice volunteer, a peer listener, a volunteer for an Alzheimer’s support group, and a member of the Red Hat Society of Loyal.

Janet will be dearly missed by her children: Roger (Lori) of Wausau, Arla (Michael) Homann of Park Falls, Betty (Ron) Boulieu of Marshfield, Virgil (Lora) of Marshfield, Susan (Robert) Berger of Minocqua, and Gloria (Richard) Thom of Cato; her daughter-in-law: Elaine Pachal of Winter Haven, Fla.; 13 grandchildren: Elizabeth (Shawn) Banerjee, Matthew and Jennifer Pachal, William (Karlie) Homann, Rebecca (Kevin) Knapp, and Michelle Homann, Devin (Kendyl Haffenbredl) Boulieu, Tyler and Micah Pachal, Jaci and Kyle Klimpke, Alexander and Benjamin Thom; five great-grandchildren: Jordan, Calvin, Ansel, Arlo, and Harper; her brother: Reuben (Delores Smith) Ehlert of Loyal; and many relatives and friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Duane; her son: James; and one grandson: Jeremiah Pachal.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
