Horvatin, Raymond M. (4 Jan. 1917 - 30 Jan. 2002)
CHIPPEWA FALLS -- Raymond M. Horvatin, 85, a resident of the Chippewa Manor, Chippewa Falls, and formerly of the town of Wheaton, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at the Chippewa Manor.
He was born Jan. 4, 1917, in Joliet, Ill., the son of John and Mary (Kambic) Horvatin. He was a milk hauler and worked for Peter’s Meat Co. “Packerland.” He married Jennie Plonka on June 1, 1940, at St. Andrew’s Church in Chicago, Ill. He was a member of KSKJ and St. Charles Church.
He enjoyed gardening, deer hunting, bird watching, fishing with his grandsons, spending time with his family, woodworking and carpentry. He is survived by two sons, Raymond “Richard” (Mary) Horvatin of Chippewa Falls and Andrew (Kelly) of Wheeler; four daughters, Judy (Gary) Gaier of Tony; Lorraine (Richard) Gardow of Chippewa Falls, Kathleen (Jon) Hansman of Ashland and Susan (Bernard) Staves of Wheeler; two brothers, William (friend, Shirley Schaller) and Clarence (Juanita) both of Chippewa Falls; two sisters, Helen Ristau of Eau Claire and Marian (George) Mercier of Brookfield; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie, on July 23, 1998; his parents; two brothers, John and Joseph Harvatin; and one sister, Josephine Sutter.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at St. Charles Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Eric Linzmaier will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Feb. 1, and until 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls. There will be a Christian Vigil Service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made out to the Chippewa County Historical Society or St. Charles Borromeo Children’s Fund.
