Steven William Van Dam and Shirley Ann Talford shared wedding vows in services
on Saturday afternoon, October 25, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Eau Claire.
The Rev. Roland H. Hansen officiated. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Talford of Rock Falls
and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Van Dam, Neillsville, are parents of the couple. The father
of the bride presented her to the altar.
During the nuptials, Jeanne Anderson, a sister of the bride, offered four vocal
selections. They included “Sabbath Prayer,” “Beginning Today,” “The Lord’s
Prayer” and “Longer.”
Serving as maid of honor was Luann Talford, a sister of the bride from Rock
Falls. She was joined by Joy Woods, a friend of the bride from Ladysmith;
Darlene Cliff, a sister of the bride from Eau Claire; and Susan Carlson, a
sister of the groom from Mounds View, Minnesota.
Bestman was James Sisko, a friend of the groom from Wauzeka. He was joined by
Ron Talford, the bride’s brother from Rock Falls; Randy Cliff, the bride’s
brother-in-law from Eau Claire; and Steve Carlson, the groom’s brother-in-law
from Mounds View. James Talford, another of the bride’s brothers, and friend Joe
Plummer, both of Rock Falls, were ushers.
Bradley Anderson, the bride’s nephew from Eau Claire, was the ringbearer.
Following the service, a reception was held in the church parlors with a dance
later that evening at the Westgate Sportsman’s Club.
The couple will make their home in Patch Grove. The bride is a 1980 graduate of
St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Marshfield, and was employed as an RN with
Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire prior to her marriage. The groom is a
graduate of Neillsville High School and holds a BS degree in business education.
He is a teacher for the West Grant School District.
