Collinson, Harold W. (16 August 1931 – 10 February 2022) With Flag
Harold W. Collinson, of Curtiss, went to his eternal rest on Thursday, February
10, 2022, at the age of 90, under the care of Aspirus Hospice Care.
Harold was born on August 16, 1931, in Savanna, IL, the son of George and Edith
(Gruber) Collinson. The family later moved to the Loyal area, where he attended
and graduated from Loyal High School. After graduation Harold enlisted in the
United States Air Force and proudly served from 1950 to 1954. Harold worked
various occupations during his life, including canned milk hauler at North Star
Cheese Factory, Loyal; welder/ assembler at E-Z Kamper, Loyal; feed
handler/driver at O.W. Trindal Company, Loyal; salesperson for Valley Bakers
Co-operative Association, Neenah; logging with the Mike Weyer family; and welder
at Kobiske Metal Hydraulics, Loyal.
On July 12, 1955, Harold was united in marriage to Marliss Uhrig at Loyal United
Methodist Church in Loyal. Together they raised seven children.
Harold had many hobbies over the course of his life, which included bowling,
reading, watching western movies, woodcrafts, fishing and trips to Canada,
tending his yard, traveling and maple syrup making season. He was a member of
the Loyal American Legion Post 175 for 50 plus years, where he spent many hours
volunteering his time in his younger years. He was an advocate of blood and
platelet donation, which he did often.
He is lovingly survived by his children: Debra (Dan) McNeely, Loyal; Judy (Don)
Hill, La Crosse; Keith (Marja) Collinson, Greenwood; Karen (Dave) Gallion,
Spencer; Mark (Shawn) Collinson, Greenwood; and Janalee (Gerald) Graham, Owen;
daughter-in-law, Cheryl Collinson, Las Vegas, NV; 24 grandchildren and 9
great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Emily Lindner,
Edgar, two brothers-in-law, Arley Uhrig, Middleton, and Robert Uhrig, Black
River Falls, as well and many nieces and nephews.
Harold is preceded in death by his wife, Marliss; his son, Tommy; his parents,
George and Edith; his siblings, Florence Stage, Reva Streich, George Collinson,
Lloyd Collinson, Vada Mae Falconer and LeRoy Collinson. A niece and nephews also
predecease him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Curtiss,
February 19, 2022. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at
11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting memorials in Harold’s name to the
Highground Veterans Memorial Park and Museum, Neillsville, WI or St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church, Curtiss, WI.
