Schweke, William Fred (23 Mar. 1884 - 26 Feb. 1970)

Spencer - William Schweke, 85, of Spencer, died Thursday morning at the Marshfield Convalescent Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. William H. Ruhbusch will officiate and burial will be made in St. John's cemetery at Spencer.

Friends may call at the Jasperson Funeral Home from Saturday noon until Sunday noon, and then at the church.

Mr. Schweke was born March 23, 1884, in Butternut, Wisconsin, where he received his education. He was married at Spencer April 18, 1906, to Minnie Luepke, who preceded him in death in 1963. The couple observed their 50th wedding anniversary in 1956.

After their marriage, they lived near Upson, Wisconsin, where he engaged in logging. A year later they moved to the town of Brighton. They operated a farm there until 1948, when they retired and moved into Spencer.

Mr. Schweke was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Senior Citizens Club. He had served as treasurer for the town of Brighton for twenty years and as assessor for the village of Spencer for two years.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lenora Zettl, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Donald (Estella) Prehn, Spencer; two sons, Alvin Schweke, Ladysmith, and Clifford Schweke, Marshfield; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, two brothers and three sisters.
