Sherfinski, Sylvester (22 May 1916 - 16 Apr. 1983)
WAUSAU - Sylvester “Silver” Sherfinski, 66, of Wausau died Saturday evening in a Wausau nursing home.
He was born May 22, 1916 in Junction City, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter (Proxeda) Sherfinski. He and Stella Kudla were marred Sept. 7, 1946 in Mosinee.
He was employed at Brokaw Paper Mills for 34 years. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Burns Post 388, and the American Legion, Montgomery-Plant Post 10. He was also member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Michael, at home; three daughters, Carol Sherfinski of Bensonville, Ill., Barbara Sherfinski of Green Bay and Mrs. Louis (Kathryn) Petricca of Mount Prospect, Ill.; four grandchildren; a brother, Chester, of Wausau; and a sister, Mrs. Sophie Pearce of Wausau.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. Jerome Hoeser will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
Visitation at the Peterson Funeral Home, Wausau, will be from 4-9 p.m. today and there will be a parish vigil there at 7 p.m. followed by a Catholic Order of Foresters rosary at 7:45.
There will be visitation at the church from 9:45 a.m. Wednesday until time for services.
