Borchardt, Mathilda S. (11 Oct. 1905 - 14 June 1991)
Mrs. Mathilda S. "Tillie" Borchardt, 85, Stratford, died at 11:05 a.m. Friday, at St. Joseph's Hospital where she had been a patient since June 12.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church (ECLA) in the town of Wien, Marathon County, with the Rev. Jeffrey C. Tarnas officiating. Sarah Lemmer will be the organist for soloist Kay Natzke and congregational singing.
Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in the town of Wien. Pallbearers will be Shawn Totzke, Matthew Totzke, Jason Totzke, Richie Totzke, Jerry Manecke and Ralph Hoernke.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. Tuesday and until 9 a.m. Wednesday at Sauter/Kundinger Funeral Home, Stratford, and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. A prayer service will be at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. She was born Oct. 11, 1905, in the town of Frankfort, Marathon County, to Otto and Bertha (Hoernke) Totzke. She attended school in the town of Frankfort, Marathon County. She was married to Arnold F. Borchardt on Oct. 5, 1939, at St. John's Lutheran Church, town of Wien. Before her marriage, she was employed as a housekeeper in Antigo and Chicago. After their marriage, the Borchardts farmed in the town of Wien until 1947, when they moved to the village of Stratford. She lived there until the present time. Her husband died on May 7, 1970.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Survivors include a brother, Richard Totzke of Stratford, and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a daughter, who died in infancy in 1941, her parents and a sister.
