Mellenthin, Julius (9 Oct. 1905 - 6 Mar. 1991)
Services for Julius (Jack) Mellenthin, 85, of M404 N. Staadt Road, who died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital Hospice Care Unit, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hansen Funeral Home.
The Rev. Russell Reemstma of Grace Baptist Church will officiate. Mrs. Kathy Reemstma will be the organist, and Mrs. Becky Whitford will be the soloist. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
He was born Oct. 9, 1905, in Spencer, to Mr. and Mrs. Julius Mellenthin. He attended rural Spencer schools. He lived in Spencer until the death of his father. His mother then moved the family to Neenah. As a young man, he was employed by Kimberly-Clark Paper Corp.
He moved to Marshfield in 1926 and worked as a cheesemaker. He married Viola Dethloff Oct. 17, 1931, at Evangelical United Brethren Church, Marshfield. He owned and operated cheese factories in Marathon and Wood counties until his retirement in 1970. He had been admitted to the hospital Feb. 25.
He was a member of the Wisconsin Cheesemakers Association. He bowled with the Senior Bowlers and also sang in the church choir.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Reinhald (Judy) Werth of Marshfield; one son, Edgar of Milwaukee; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be designated to the family as they will establish a memorial at a later date.
