Plath, Herman W. (19 Sept. 1893 - 26 Oct. 1973)
Herman W. Plath, of 131 W. McMillan St., Marshfield, died of an apparent heart attack about 3 p.m. Friday at his home. He was 80 years of age.
Services have been set for 2:30 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Eldore F. Messerschmidt, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hansen Chapel from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until time of services.
Mr. Plath was born Sept. 19, 1893, in Spencer and attended the schools there. Following his marriage to the former Erna Dittman on Oct. 12, 1916, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer, they continued to live and farm in the Spencer area until 1940.
In 1942, they came to Marshfield, where he was employed as a carpenter and also at Stock-Gro Company for many years.
Mr. and Mrs. Plath had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1966.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Louise Lee; Wisconsin Dells; two sons, Norbert and Vernon Plath, both of Marshfield; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Pudrowska, Stevens Point; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A sister and a brother preceded him in death.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
