Wundrow, Elaine Alice (13 Aug. 1926 - 5 May 2008)

PHILLIPS -- Elaine Alice Wundrow (Momsy), 81, Phillips, died May 5, 2008, at Pleasant View Nursing Home.

She was born Aug. 13, 1926, in Wausau to Ervin and Evelyn (Christensen) Radtke. She graduated from Marshfield High School, class of 1944. Following graduation, she was employed by L.L. Felker company and waited for the love of her life, Earl, to return from the Pacific Theater during World War II. Their love continued to grow and on June 28, 1947, she married Earl Wundrow (Popsy) in Marshfield. During their life in Marshfield she raised and cared for her family. She encouraged her sons in scouting and her daughter in ballet and tap dancing. She believed life should be fun and encouraged her children and grandchildren to enjoy the many activities she did. Family activities included snowmobiling, ice skating, downhill skiing, swimming and water-skiing.

As the family grew, she went to work at the Marshfield Research Center to help send her children to college. When her children graduated from college, she was ready for a break and time for herself. In 1981 Elaine and Earl retired and moved to their home on Musser Flowage (The Fun Farm.)

In Phillips she enjoyed entertaining their many friends on pontoon rides, raising sheep, feeding the deer and birds. She held a special love for their family dog and always respected their kindness, companionship and insight. Momsy always looked forward to her family visiting the northwoods, especially when the grandchildren arrived. Momsy was an avid snowmobiler and helped blaze new trails through Price County and promote the sport in northern Wisconsin. Momsy will be remembered most for her mantra, "You kids have fun." Mom, we love you and will miss you always.

She is survived by three children, Gary (Jeanne) Wundrow, Cottage Grove, Ore., Barbara (Chuck) Wagner, Selah, Wash., and Larry (Cathryn) Wundrow, Lolo, Mont.; and by her six grandchildren.

Services will be held May 9 at Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until the memorial service at 11 a.m., with Milt Neuhauser and Gary Wundrow officiating. Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips is assisting the family with arrangements.
