Dennis L. Schwantes, 33, of 603 S. Vine Ave., was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Joseph’s Hospital at 9:20 p.m. Thursday. He had been in ill health the past two years.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Traugott P. Bradtke, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Brooklawn Memory Gardens.

Friends may call at the Rembs/Kundinger Chapel after 4 p.m. Saturday and on Sunday until 12:30 p.m. and then at the church from 1 p.m. Sunday until service time. There will be an Elks Lodge of Sorrow at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Schwantes was born Dec. 27, 1942, in Marshfield and attended the Spencer schools. He married the former Sharon A. Cepress on Feb. 12, 1966, at Marshfield. She survives.

He worked at the Land-O’-Lakes Co. in Spencer and later for his brother, Roger, and also did construction work for a period of time. He worked for the Marshfield Electric and Water Department from 1966 until August of this year, when he retired due to ill health.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Elks Lodge.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Brian and Scott, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Leota Schwantes, Spencer; three sisters, Mrs. Verner (Vila) Oelrich, Port Richey, Fla., Mrs. LeRoy (Elaine) Koch, North Lake, Ill., and Mrs. Marvin (Carolyn) Hopfensperger, Junction City, and four brothers, Gerald, Route 1, Spencer, Roger, Route 4, Marshfield, and Robert and Arlyn, both of Spencer.

His father preceded him in death.
